Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center and Park houses many amazing amenities: Picnic Areas, Ricky Henderson Baseball Field, McConnell Softball Fields, Outdoor Exercise Center, (3) Children's Play Areas, and more features coming soon.

Other Amazing Programs

The Discovery Center (Arroyo Viejo)

The Discovery Center is a community-based program that offers neighborhood youth a fun way to explore their world through science. It provides youth with the materials, resources, and coaching that allows them the creative space to discover their own skills and enables them to pursue their own interests. It encourages youth to see learning as something they pursue for their own benefit.

     - Gardening
     - Build science fair type projects
     - Launch water propelled rockets
     - Motorized & magnetic gadgets
     - Learn bicycle repair - fix your bike
     - Clay & art projects
     - Simple chemistry projects
     - Computer lab
     - Woodworking projects such as birdhouses  
     - Educational and group word games

Science workshop, computer lab, “kitchen chemistry,” bike repair mechanics, and woodshop are available during all hours of operation. We also have activity stations with interactive projects demonstrating scientific principles involving light, motion, and magnetism. Our program is free of cost. Children ages 7 and up are welcome.

Arroyo Viejo Child Development Center

The Early Childhood Education program at Arroyo Viejo Child Development Center strives to build a solid foundation of success for all children and their families. They are committed to providing each child in our program access to a high-quality educational experience. Their promise to provide kindergarten readiness will be accomplished through instruction, assessment and curriculum that is developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate. The curriculum includes instruction in early literacy, math, science, art, physical development, and social/emotional development and is rooted in the California Preschool Learning Foundations.

AVRC would like to  welcome the Scraper Bike Team to the Arroyo family. They are located at the rear of Arroyo Viejo Park behind the Chris Mullin Basketball Courts.
