Though the picture pokes a little fun at a car being burglarized, it's truly not a laughing matter. It's a lot of time and money that gets wasted, not to mention the aggravation that ensues. That time, money, and aggravation increases exponentially when you're the victim of a robbery, especially if it is at gun point. The bright spot, even though it may not seem like it, is that crime has gone down a bit in Oakland. Albeit, not enough to take your car and your personal safety for granted…
The key is for you to stay aware of your surroundings. And, if you find yourself in the middle of a situation, there are some keys thing to keep in mind to minimize your risk of becoming a victim. In an effort to better prepare us the Oakland Police Department has come up with some great safety guides.
